Etang de la Jemaye in the Dordogne
Have you enjoyed a comfortable swim at our campsite in the Dordogne, or a refreshing dip in the river? If so, we’ve got another place for you to swim: the Etang de Jemaye, a 20-minute drive from the campsite.
A green, preserved and peaceful natural setting
Located between the communes of La Jemaye and Saint-André-de-Double, 24 km from the 3-star La Cigaline campsite near Bergerac, the Etang de la Jemaye covers an area of 33 hectares. This majestic body of water lies at the heart of the Double forest, one of the green lungs of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, covering almost 50,000 hectares. For a walk in the forest, a picnic by the water with the family, a water sports activity with friends or a few hours of idleness in direct contact with nature, the Etang de la Jemaye is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and peaceful natural spots to discover during a stay in a Dordogne mobile home.
What to see and do at Etang de la Jemaye?
The Etang de la Jemaye features sandy beaches. Swimming is permitted and supervised in high season, making it a pleasant alternative to the campsite pool in the Dordogne. You can hire nautical equipment to navigate the waters in a kayak or canoe. Declared a “sensitive natural area”, it’s a must for sports enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. You’ll find several hiking trails for all ages and abilities (including a signposted circuit leading to the Parcot farm), an observatory, information panels along the way, a fitness trail, a picnic area, a bar-restaurant and a children’s playground.
