Visit to Château de Bridoire

Bridoire, a 15th-century medieval castle

Less than 50 minutes from the Cigaline Dordogne campsite, in the commune of Ribagnac, Château de Bridoire has been dismantled and restored several times over its long history. Abandoned to looters at the end of the 20th century, it was finally purchased by the Guyot family, known for their successful restoration of the Château de Saint-Fargeau in Yonne. Château de Bridoire opened its doors to the public in 2012. Today, many of the restored and furnished rooms can be visited, including the large kitchens, the dining room where Henri de Navarre (the future Henri IV) had his breakfast, the guards’ room and the king’s bedroom. The stables are also worth a visit, where you can meet the horses and ponies of the family.

Bridoire Castle games

If you rent a mobile home in the Dordogne, Château de Bridoire offers a wide range of original activities. A family outing par excellence, a visit to the château is first and foremost an opportunity to try your hand at a wide variety of games, both indoors and out: there are 80 wooden games reproducing or inspired by ancient and regional games. From board games to grass skiing, from chamboule-tout to tug-of-war, it’s impossible to get bored! Château de Bridoire also offers a true immersion in the Middle Ages, with crossbow shooting initiations, armor and helmet fittings in the knights’ tent, and calligraphy workshops that will leave a lasting impression on your camping memories near Périgueux.
