Château de Montréal, a journey through history

This medieval fortress near our mobile home rentals in the Dordogne has preserved all its original ramparts. Overlooking the Crempse valley, it has been the scene of many feuds, including the Hundred Years’ War. Throughout history, the site has undergone a number of modifications. These adjustments were mainly inspired by the Renaissance. From 1530, the military fortress was transformed into a residential building. But this did not prevent further attacks, particularly during the Wars of Religion. Today, a visit to the Château de Montréal is a unique experience. Architecture buffs can still admire its chapel, gardens and underground passageway.
