Château de Neuvic
The Dordogne is famous for its many castles. The town of Neuvic has its own. This listed site dates back to the 16th century. Enter the courtyard and admire the sumptuous facade. Guided tours in summer take in the vaulted rooms, murals and romantic grotto.
The château’s grounds have been transformed into a vast botanical park. Access is free, so you can observe the many species of trees and shrubs in all seasons. Take your time to stroll among the pines, oaks, insect refuges and waterhole.

Neuvic’s culinary specialities
The Neuvic walnut oil mill
In Neuvic, at the Moulin de la Veyssière, you can visit the last remaining water mill on the Vern. The Elias family still produces walnut and hazelnut oils. These oils are made by hand, using a stone millstone powered by the mill.
Christine welcomes you all year round to her superb mill. For 1 hour, she will give you a fascinating explanation of how the mill works. In July and August, she organizes pressings on Friday afternoons. Afterwards, you’ll be able to appreciate the quality of the products as you taste them. The store is a great idea for souvenir gifts. Neuvic caviar
The Isle River, which borders the campsite near Neuvic, is ideal for sturgeon farming.
Several caviar fish farms have sprung up around Montpon-Ménestérol in the Dordogne. The Neuvic fish farm offers a range of visit options.
You’ll start with a tour of the estate, where we’ll explain how caviar is made. Volunteers can even get up close and personal with sturgeon in a special tank. Finally, you’ll taste caviar butter and the famous Neuvic caviar.
