The Cité du Vin in Bordeaux
Are you interested in wine, culture and gourmet delights? For a few hours or a whole day, dare to take an unforgettable trip to Bordeaux’s Cité du Vin, just 80 kilometers from the Dordogne campsite.
A symbol of excellence from the Bordeaux terroir
In many countries and on every continent, wine is part of the landscape and culture. A living, historic heritage that never ceases to evolve and renew itself. Since vines and wine are an invitation to travel, and a perfect representative of French culture, the Cité des Vins opened its doors in Bordeaux in 2016 to showcase and share this ancestral art with the whole world. Spanning 14,000m2 and boasting exceptional architecture, it is at once a place to stroll, a place to live and a place to learn, where the transmission of heritage is interactive and adapted to the desires of each visitor. Visit, experiment, taste and relax during your vacation at our campsite with swimming pool in the Dordogne.
A thematic, sensory and cultural universe
Just a few kilometers from your campsite near Périgueux, the permanent tour includes 19 themed areas that take you through the ages, immersing you in the historical, cultural and sensory aspects of the world of wine. An innovative tool called the “visit companion” talks to you (in eight languages) about geography, civilizations, oenology and myths. This technology adapts to your wishes for a personalized exploration. The tour ends at the top of the Belvedere with a breathtaking view of Bordeaux, while you enjoy a nectar selected from fifteen wines from the world’s most outstanding vineyards (included in your ticket). La Cité du Vin also organizes an annual temporary exhibition on the world of wine, featuring works from major museums and private collections. From April to August 2021, the exhibition entitled “Drinking with the gods” will introduce you to the special relationship between men and wine in Greco-Roman civilization. Each autumn, a different terroir and vineyard is featured in an original exhibition just a few kilometers from our campsite near Pomerol. You can also take part in oenology workshops, take a break in the reading room, have lunch in the panoramic restaurant where the menu features over 500 crus. You can stop off at the wine bar to enjoy a snack and discover a breathtaking world wine cellar, and get some fresh air in the gardens on the banks of the Garonne before heading back to your mobile home rental in the Dordogne.
