Head for the great vineyards of the Bergerac region.

Geography of the Bergerac vineyards

The Bergeracois covers an area some 40 km long from east to west and 30 km from north to south. Its territory corresponds to the hillsides and plateaus on both banks of the Dordogne River, around Bergerac. The Bergerac vineyards cover almost 100 communes, including Monbazillac, Montazeau, Montpeyroux, Saint-Antoine-de-Breuilh, Thénac, Saint-Laurent-des-Vignes, Saussignac, Colombier and Gageac-et-Rouillac.

Pécharmant and Rosette right bank, Monbazillac left bank

On the right bank of the Dordogne, the subsoil consists of marine limestone covered with gravel and sand. The presence of iron gives the soil a crimson color. This is where the wines bearing the Pécharmant and Rosette appellations are produced. On the left bank, the soils are rich in limestone scree and sandstone. The vineyards of Monbazillac and Saussignac are located on this side of the river.

The Bergerac region in figures

Bergerac is the estate’s largest production, with 300,000 hl of red wine per year, 70,000 hl of white wine and 50,000 hl of rosé.
