Departing from Duellas or Bergerac, you’ll have plenty of time to admire the majestic scenery along France’s most beautiful rivers. Board a gabarre from Duellas

Departing from Duellas, you’ll board a traditional flat-bottomed gabarre for an hour-long cruise with commentary. You’ll learn more about the history of the region, from the first fortified castles to the present day. During the trip, you’ll cruise along the river Isle, on the edge of the campsite, and experience the thrill of passing through a manual lock. It’s unique in the Périgord and well worth a look! Your guide will also comment on the flora and fauna along the river. He’ll also describe the life of the gabarriers of yesteryear, and you’ll be surprised to hear an inventory of what they transported. Take the opportunity to visit the Moulin de Duellas before returning to your Dordogne mobile home rental. It features an exhibition, an organic vegetable garden, nature-related activities and shows. You’ll even be able to eat at the refreshment bar or picnic area. A day of fun and relaxation for the whole family! The Duellas gabarre trips take place from May to October. Gabarre ride from Bergerac

This time on the Dordogne, you’ll spend almostan hour drifting along the river. It’s from Bergerac, the famous city of Cyrano, that you’ll embark on an exciting cruise. Departure is just 40 minutes from our Dordogne campsite, from the Gabarrier port in Bergerac between April and October, at You’ll pass through the nature reserve, where your guide will explain the life of the local flora and fauna. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to photograph kite herons, geese and coypu. Aboard your Bergerac gabarre, you’ll cross the port of Tuilière, with its ladder of seven locks, astonishing fish elevator and hydroelectric dam. In July and August, hour-and-a-half-long gabarre cruises are available on reservation. These take you as far as the village of Mouleydier, where you can discover the fisheries and the cluzeaux, man-made caves several hundred years old.
