Le Moulin de Porchères sur l’Isle

What will you discover at the Moulin de Porchères?

The superb Moulin de Porchères is located on the banks of the Isle river, some fifteen kilometers from your 3-star campsite in the Dordogne. This unique site lies at the heart of a luxuriant natural environment protected by the Natura 2000 label and by UNESCO. Listed as a Monument Historique in 2008, the Moulin de Porchères was built in the 19th century.

During your visit, you’ll learn how wheat is ground into flour using the flour mill system. Better still, you’ll get to work on your own bread! Be imaginative and shape your own bread to your heart’s content. Around the Moulin de Porchères, you’ll spend a pleasant day strolling along the banks of the Isle or the old 2.7 km-long “chemin de hallage”.

Let yourself be tempted by a waterbike tour

Do you fancy an unusual activity during your vacation in the Dordogne? Then the waterbike is for you. Comfortably installed on your saddle, you pedal just like on a bike… but on water! Sail in complete safety on the River Isle in the heart of lush green countryside. In fact, the Aubarède is a protected area classified as a “World Biosphere Reserve” by UNESCO.

Ride your waterbike at your own pace, discovering the flora and fauna along the river’s banks. The same river that runs alongside our riverside campsite in the Dordogne. By the way, what does a waterbike look like? Imagine two floats held together by an exercise bike. Sitting on the saddle, hands on the handlebars, you pedal along or let yourself be carried by the current of the Isle before returning to your rented mobile home in the Dordogne.
