For this, choose an original accommodation like the 3-star Dordogne campsite where the river meets the forest. Follow our guide to discover the essential places to visit and the many things to do in the Dordogne.

What’s not to be missed?

From our campsite with swimming pool in the Dordogne, you can’t miss the Grottes de Lascaux, an imposing monument dating back to the Palaeolithic period. The site was discovered by chance in 1940. History buffs will also appreciate the many castles in the region, including Château de Beynac, Château de Hautefort and Château de Commarque. And don’t miss the fabulous Jardins de Marqueyssac. A stroll through these gardens is a truly enchanting experience, with over 6 km of lined paths, waterfalls and belvederes. Another not-to-be-missed site is the Gallo-Roman museum at Vesunna , for a real plunge into antiquity. You can also visit the nearby town of Bergerac, or take a trip to Périgueux.

What activities can you enjoy?

If you’re traveling with children, you can visit the Touron wildlife park. But for a trip back in time, you can visit Parc Le Bournat. Relive the daily lives of our ancestors by trying your hand at life in the 1900s. In addition, adventurers and sports enthusiasts will appreciate the many activities on offer, including hiking, diving and climbing. You can even go caving in the caves of Cougnac or Sarlat. What’s more, whether you’re an expert or a beginner, the Dordogne is one of France’s most beautiful regions for canyoning. In fact, the Verdon, Malesse Canyon and Falaises du Corbeau are ideal locations for this activity. Fun and thrills guaranteed!
